Frame Synchronous Buffer (FSB), Model TCP-FSB-01
Pricing: $6,000 for a single device; quantity discounts are available.
The Frame Synchronous Buffer is a dual-channel serial communications controller that
receives and transmits high rate, synchronous, proprietary frame-formatted data streams,
buffering the data for a connected host system while internal and external I/O operations occur.
The FSB connects to a host notebook, desktop, or rack-mount system via a USB 2.0 port
that acts as both a data path and power source. The FSB uses a Cypress FX2 USB Slave
microcontroller as its control processor and host interface, a Xilinx Spartan-3 FPGA
to execute its proprietary communications protocols, and Linear Technologies
line drivers to enable communications over RS-530 and RS-232 circuits. Data rates up
to 10 Mbits/sec are possible depending on the protocol employed. Device driver and
evaluation software are available for use with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x OS
on PC and Power PC platforms, and with the Linux Fedora 8 OS on PC platforms.
Customization of device driver and supporting applications software are
available for an additional fee.
